Leishmaniasis otherwise known as Kala-azar is a disease spread by sand fly. It is spread from the byte of sandfly and is parasitic in nature. It is a group of disease. Disease may be cutaneous or systemic. Cutaneous leishmaniasis affects mucous membrane and skin and in mucous membrane ulcers might develop. Systemic or visceral leishmaniasis affects the immune system of whole body and might cause death.

Causes

Leishmaniasis is spread by sand flies which is infected by biting an infected by biting any infected animal.

Symptoms

Children affected by the disease will show symptoms like vomiting, fever, weakness, cough, night sweat, change in skin tone, hair thinning, discomfort with abdomen, weight loss, diarrhea, fatigue etc. In adults fever might last for two weeks or two months. They will have weakness, fatigue, loss of appetite etc and along with the disease weakness increases. In those affected by cutaneous leishmaniasis there might be difficulty to breath, sores on skin, skin ulcer, nose bleeding, nose running, ulcers in mouth lips, nose etc.

Treatment

Spleen and bone marrow or skin biopsy and culture, immunofluorescent antibody test done indirectly, complete blood count, hemoglobin count, direct agultination assay, montenegro skin test, serum protein and albumin, immunoglobulins etc are done for detecting the disease.

Antimony containing compounds are the most important drugs used to treat the disease. Medicines usually given are Meglumine antimonate and Sodium stibogluconate. Amphotericin B , Pentamidine are also given. In case of visceral leishmaniasis removal of spleen might become necessary if it is drug resistant. If disfigurement occurs in cutaneous leishmaniasis plastic surgery might become necessary. Death occurs in a time span of two years due to other complications like other infections. Pentavalent antimony is the most common treatment or pentamindine is used as an alternative.

Usually two pentavalent antimonials (Pentostam and Glucantime) are used in treatment. In case they are not effective pentamidine and amphotericine B are given to patient. Allopurinol used in gout treatment is being tried as experiment. Similarly as part of experiments ambisome and ketaconazole are also given. Drugs are chosen according to the geographic location and infecting species. Drugs like Nastibogluconate or Meglumine antimonate are also given. Deoxycholate, Ishethionate, itraconazole, topical paromomycin etc are other drugs given to patient. Supportive measures like adequate nutrition, antibiotics etc are also needed.

Prevention

Sandfly bites must be prevented through insect repellent, appropriate clothing, window screening etc. There are no preventive vaccines for this disease.

I had great day last week when I met one of my best friend during school days after about five years. We were very close then though there were other friends too who were close with me. We had developed such a strong relation that I never can’t forget even if I wish (No, I never wish). But, for the last five years we were not in contact with each other face to face though were in contact by other means such as email, phone etc.

Personally, with me, it takes time to develop friendship. But, once developed, remains very strong with almost all. As long as they trust me, I will also trust them. I do not have lot friends but have strong and very close relation with whom I have friendship.I do not like seasons and opportunistic friends. They hurt you in most cases. I think I am going to write more about myself. My main point here is not also to talk about importance of our friends because we all know friends are always important in our life. What I am going to tell is how to keep your friendship always strong and make long-lasting.
Said that, let me start with some qualities of good friendship.

What are the qualities of good friendship?

Two friends trust each other.

They are ready to help each other in any condition.

They share whether it is happiness or trouble and try to solve the problem by consulting with each other.

They are ready to make understanding if there is any misunderstanding between them.

They remain good friend even after long time, change in social, personal, financial status.

How to keep your friendship forever and always strong?
There are many ways you can do. These ways may vary from person to person-according to their personality, different status etc. But, I am giving you some general tips you can apply to keep your relation till the end i.e. until we die!(Friends die but friendship never die)

Trust: Trust is such a great quality that is important to keep that relation strong and long-lasting in any relation from friendship to that of couples and boy/girlfriend. If you trust the person with whom you have good relation and the other person also trust you in the same way, then you two have strong relation. But, this trust turns into distrust when there exists doubts and selfishness etc. If this continued for long period, any good relation is sure to end and both of you will have to stay at different pole of the earth i.e. one at the North pole and the other at the South pole. We definitely do not want this. You may say how can I rust my friend that he/she is always right and he/she will always do good for me? Well again I say trust your good friend. Because, it is sure good friend will never hurt you.

Remember important dates: You can remember important dates related to your friend such as his/her Birthday, anniversary etc. and wish them or give a gift they like. In such case, some person consider money as important thing and tries to give expensive gifts. But, remember good friendship can not be compared with money. So, try the one you can afford. You simply can send online greetings for example.

Help in trouble: I think here also I should not make any more clarification. Only one thing I want to say is always be ready to help your friend in any way and as much as you can.

Remain in contact: Sometimes distance makes relation even more close. So, if you are far from your friend, due to development in technology there are many ways you can remain in contact. You can use email, chat programs and other social networking sites such as Myspace, Facebook etc. If your friend want to let know your daily activities or other special activity, you can write a blog and share your daily life activities.

Share and enjoy: If there is anything that you made happy, share with your friend. Listen to his/her thoughts as well. If he/she have achieved something noticeable, congratulate and enjoy yourself as well.

Maintain healthy competition: I have seen end in good friendship when there exists unhealthy competition between two friends. Though this may not happen in many relations, it is better to keep this idea in mind since it may happens anytime.

Monetary exchange: As far as I have seen and happened for me as well, it will be better not to either lend or borrow money with your good friend. Of course, we have to do this with friends. But, attention should be paid so that your friendship may not end.

Do you have any other ideas? Please do not hesitate to share. I will pick one best idea and include in this post with link to your blog.

Ice baths do sound incredible to bear and in most cases we can say that it is quite hard to take one, especially the first one. The problem is that the ice bath is very good if taken long and cold enough. It will aid in removing a lot of muscle soreness and even potential injuries. This is why some people do put them in their workout regime. Let us see how to properly take an ice bath.

Right after a hard race, run or even a long run just fill the bathtub with cold water. Next add 2 or more ice cube trays so that the water gets to 54 to 60 degrees F. After that you have to eat a post run or post workout snack and you can also add tea or coffee to the mix. That snack is highly important for recovery but tea and coffee are not although they do aid a lot in removing the immediate effect of the ice cold water that is to come. Now you can wrap a towel around your shoulders or put on a sweater and hat so that your upper body stays warm. Get in the icy water and stay there at least 10 minutes. Then you need to quickly get out, dry off and eat the post run or post workout meal you want to. A warm shower needs to be taken 30 to 60 minutes later. If you take it sooner the benefits obtained from taken an ice bath will be denied.

Keep in mind that filling the tub all the way to the top is not necessary. You just have to make sure that your lower body is completely soaked in. Sticking with taking ice baths is essential and the truth is that the worst ice bath is the first one you take. After that you will see that all is a lot easier. Pay attention to not make the water too cold as this can easily happen and translate in frostbite, this being the biggest problem that can appear with ice baths.

(Posted by Patrick Sullivan Jr.)

Marc Ulman is one of the most respected lawyers in the Dietary Supplement business. Among dozens of other accomplishments and accolades, he is the lead counsel of the Dietary Supplement Education Alliance, which is how I met him.

Yesterday he wrote Attacks on the Industry — How Should We Respond? questioning how to best respond to two recent attacks on the Dietary Supplement Industry.

I posted the following comment to that post (don’t know why it’s showing up as private comment??):

Good question Marc. I contest that the long-term answer is what kept
my company (Jigsaw Health) from being approved as a member of DSEA –
un-redacted customer product reviews on the same page as the Buy Now
button.

Allow me to explain…

Jupiter Research found 79% of consumers looked for product reviews when shopping online. And what’s the first thing any of us look for when buying a product on Amazon?? Yep…we all scroll down to the customer reviews.

And I would challenge that when we put our own consumer hat on, we all want to read positive *and* negative reviews. It gives us a balanced look from the actual users of the product.

Let’s face it, consumers care less and less what we as manufacturers/marketers say about our own products. And this is true in EVERY single industry. So all industries, dietary supplement marketers included, need to learn to let a product live or die based on what customers *honestly* say about their product.

Let’s STOP posting customer testimonials that have been edited to be DSHEA-friendly. Why? Someone with high blood pressure is NOT looking for a product that "promotes healthy blood flow." There’s too much of a disconnect in terminology.

But if someone buys a magnesium supplement and writes an honest review that their BP went from one-eighty over ninety-five to one-twenty over eighty in 2 weeks, why should the manufacturer live in constant fear of the FDA/FTC?

SUMMARY: The way to beat the constant media bias against dietary supplements in the long-term is to just go around them and allow consumers to connect to each other with unbiased, un-redacted product reviews in the same location as the Buy Now button. (Then, it’s up to us to kill our crappy products once bad reviews come in.)

Btw Marc, we met on the show floor of Product Expo in Vegas last year and you explained to me that Jigsaw Health was too much of a risk for DSEA primarily because of our customer product reviews on the Buy Now page. I completely understand your position, and I still respect your decision. I assure you, I’m not upset about not being included. So this comment was not written out of spite, but rather as 3-year newbie to the dietary supplement industry respectfully attempting to challenge the long-help positions of the "Old Guard."

Also, I shared this "let customers say whatever they want on our online sales pages" idea on January 16th with Congressman Pallone in a room with other industry leaders, including Jon Benninger from Virgo Publishing, Dr. Paul Mittman of SCNM.edu, etc.

I’m sure there will be many ideas on how to launch a short-term counter attack. For my two cents, I recommend the hypocrisy approach:

The landmark “Life…supplemented” Healthcare Professionals (HCP) Impact Study found that more than three quarters of U.S. physicians (79 percent) and nurses (82 percent) recommend dietary supplements to their patients. The study also shows that an almost equal number—72 percent of physicians and 89 percent of nurses—personally use vitamin, mineral, herbal and other supplements either regularly, occasionally or seasonally, which is a higher percentage than the 68 percent of adults who report they take nutritional or dietary supplements.

Patrick Sullivan Jr.
President & Co-founder

A well balanced diet and good food habits is the secret of the well being of an individual. A healthy and happy life depends largely on what you eat and the food habits that you follow. However the modern lifestyle and brought with it some disadvantages among which eating disorders form a crucial part.

Learning about Eating Disorders:

Eating disorder can be a very serious illness with far-reaching consequences. Treating eating disorder can be easy once it is properly identified.

To ascertain that an individual suffers from eating disorder, the following points can be checked out:

1) If an individual is obsessed of eating, he suffers from an eating disorder.
2) If individuals deny food for themselves when they are hungry, they suffer from eating disorders.
3) If they over-exercise to the point of physical pain and injury after taking meals, they have an eating disorder.
4) When individuals vomit after taking meals, they suffer from eating disorder.
5) They can suffer from it when they eat large quantities of food uncontrollably.
6) If individuals use diuretics or laxatives regularly they suffer from an eating disorder.

compare products
home owner loans
house cover
second home loan

Types of Eating Disorders:

The two main types of eating disorders are- Bulimia and Anorexia.

Bulimia: In Bulimia, individuals tend to eat uncontrollably. They eat excessively and then purge by taking laxatives.

Anorexia: This is opposite to Bulimia where individuals starve themselves and do not allow themselves to eat more than 500 calories per day.

There are several other disorders which are characterized by consumption of large quantities of food and not necessarily coupled with purging.

Steps to Control Eating disorder:

Some of the important steps to be followed to control eating disorder are as follows:

1) Control Bulimia.
2) Stop anorexic pattern of eating.
3) Discard binge eating.
4) Follow a healthy, nutritious and a balanced diet.
5) Exercise regularly.
6) Proper control over mind and think positively.
7) Stop taking diuretics and laxatives.

Conclusion:

Eating disorder can be treated and overcome easily with self-control and through the support of family, friends and professional dieticians. So the new mantra must be " Eat Healthy and Think Healthy!"

In a world that focuses on making money we recently see another great opportunity for both advertisers and publishers that own blogs. It is needless to say that blogs are becoming more and more popular and opportunities are bound to happen. Now we are talking about SocialSpark, an opportunity that is surely not to be denied for any blogger that wants to monetize his blogs. You basically create a profile, just like this one I did for Hardware Software Tutorials: Click HERE! Once you get approved and you copy paste your own code in your blogs you can claim them and then start taking opportunities for paid reviews. Prices vary of course and it is important to have the best blogs possible and your profile needs to be as complete as possible because only then you will be sure of landing as many jobs as possible. Payment is done through PayPal and to make it even better, you can also promote your own blogs as an advertiser. To make it simple: you already have an account with Social Spark and you can be a publisher and an advertiser at the same time. What is interesting is that there are connections made between publishers and advertisers, all under the form of a social networking site. There are elements from this type of site combined with a whole lot more, all focusing on creating a perfect environment for both advertisers and publishers. If you have a blog, we recommend that you create an account now and start browsing the web site in order to properly understand everything and take advantage of this opportunity.

Almost everyone experiences acne at some point in his or her life. Although there is no exact cause, cure or prevention, there are plenty of resources available for people to be able to choose the best treatment and prevention for themselves.

What exactly is acne?

acne vlugaris, known by most as just plain acne, is a skin disease that happens when follicles, or pores, become blocked with oil. This causes bacteria to grow, and can result in what everyone calls zits or pimples.

According to acne.org, there are two main types of acne: Inflammatory and non-inflammatory. Non-inflammatory acne is usually in the form of whiteheads and blackheads. Inflammatory acne is more visible, and is the type of acne referred to as zits or pimples.

acne usually occurs on the face, but can also affect other areas of the body such as the shoulders, back and chest.

What causes acne?

There is no exact cause of acne. There are many different factors that can cause acne, although it is not known why some people experience more acne than others.

One factor in causing acne is overactive oil glands, or sebaceous glands, which are located beneath the skin surface. Sebaceous glands produce oil when stimulated by hormones. This is one of the reasons why teenagers are more susceptible to acne: their hormone activity is high during this stage of life.

Other causes of acne include genetics, stress, the use of anabolic steroids and certain medications.

How is acne treated?

There are many products and medications available for the treatment and prevention of acne. Some common treatments are topical, antibiotics and hormonal. The best treatment is usually a combination of different types of treatment.

Over-the-counter topical treatment can work well for mild acne. Some topical products fight acne by drying up oil, killing bacteria, and getting rid of dead skin cells. Stronger topical treatments are available by prescription, which work by aiding in cell turnover or preventing hair follicles from plugging.

Antibiotics can be used to treat acne by killing bacteria and fighting the inflammation, but the results can take months.

Females with acne can sometimes benefit from hormonal prescriptions. Oral contraceptives containing estrogen and progestogen have been known to clear up acne.

Cortisone is another hormonal method, which can be used to treat severe acne. If a zit is large and does not respond to other treatments, a shot can be injected into the affected area. The results are usually immediate.

Can acne be prevented?

Just like there is no exact cure, there is not surefire way to prevent acne. However, there are certain things that people can do to aid in prevention.

Because acne is caused by oil clogging the pores, there are a few ways to reduce the amount of oil on the skin.

These methods include using an astringent to remove oil, applying oil-free moisturizers to the skin and washing your face daily with sulfur-based soap. Also, it is advisable to avoid oil based skin products and oil based makeup.

Certain vitamins, such as vitamin A, can also prevent acne and reduce oil production on the skin.

Also, just taking care of your body can help prevent acne. Exercising regularly to rid the body of toxins, drinking eight glasses of water daily, taking a multi-vitamin and practicing proper hygiene can all contribute to the prevention of acne.

People can keep acne under control by being aware of the causes and treatment methods of acne, combined with doing what they can to prevent it. There are countless resources, treatment and prevention methods out there, and finding the right combination is the key to stopping acne.
